Frankie's Motorcycles

My futures project bike.....and you can help me build it!

I'm planning a new bike that should be ready by Spring 1998. This first picture is fairly close to what the bike is going to look like. I plan to go with different pipes, a 2 up seat with sissy bar, a fat bob gas tank and a softtail frame. The bike will have the same basic clean, stretched lines as the ones in this picture though.

The design objectives are to build a fast, reliable, street-worthy machine that looks good, runs great and will run most anything else off the road.

This next picture shows the same basic style with a much cooler inverted fork front end and a leaned over look gained by using a different kickstand. This is the way that I want my bike to sit when parked. I like these wheels better also. The bike in this picture has a softtail frame like the one I will be using.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have little regard for Harley Davidsons. While the quality of a lot of motorcycle parts out there are good enough for H-D, they are NOT good enough for me. Harley Davidson is not and never has been the baseline for quality, as far as I am concerned. I intend to build a motorcycle that is orders of magnitude better than a Harley. My key strategy to accomplish this is to require that my bike has no Harley Davidson parts in it.

The first design decision was which frame to use. I've pretty much settled on a softtail, but I don't know which shocks I want to put on it yet. Lots of choices here!

What's your shock choice? Progressive Suspension Koni Works Performance Delta White Brothers

The motor will be an S&S between 88 and 96 CI. I still haven't decided whether increasing the stock bore would be a good thing to do or not. I want the additional horsepower but I don't want to sacrifice reliability to get it.

What do you think? Go with stock bore Stock bore, increase stroke
Stock stroke, increase bore Increase both stroke and bore Other

I'm looking at performance improvements such as S&S's hot setup or edlebrock heads and high lift long duration cam.

What's your motor choice? Stock Edlebrock heads & Cam S&S hot setup Other

The carb will either be an S&S Super E or a Qwiksilver II.

What's your carb choice? S&S E Qwiksilver II Other

I'm going to use the widest 16" tire that will fit on the frame. This will probably be a 16/140.

What's your choice for a front tire? 16" 19" 21"

Here's the super trapp staggered duals I plan to run! I'll eventually put a WAV file on here so that you can listen to what they'll sound like. Or... you could just hang out in my neighborhood around 2am when I come home and wake up all of my Yuppie Scum neighbors! :)

These Jammer drag pipes, on the other hand, may be just a tad *TOO* loud....

Thanks very much for your input. Drop in from time to time to get an update on how the project is going. If you have any pictures of cool paint jobs or just plain cool bikes, I'd love to see 'em. Being a Scientist, I am not a very artistic type. The only way I am going to come up with anything interesting in the paint Dept. is if I copy someone else's ideas....
